A Message From Columbia Housing's Chief Executive Officer, Ivory N. Mathews

The National Association of Housing and Redevelopment Officials (NAHRO) kicks off its August Advocacy in less than 24 hours with an incredibly important topic: housing is infrastructure, and Columbia Housing is ALL IN! Despite months of stalled negotiations, Congress has made little progress toward an infrastructure deal.

In concert with NAHRO's August Advocacy efforts, Columbia Housing is activating a community-wide CH Advocates for Affordable Housing Campaign. The CH Advocates for Affordable Housing Campaign has set a goal of submitting 100 letters per week to Congress urging their support to include affordable housing in the infrastructure bills.

Every Monday throughout the month of August, a pre-written letter will be available on a new topic ready for you to send electronically. Participation is simple, easy, and user-friendly, by simply clicking on a link (using any device with internet access) and submitting the letter. In less than 5 minutes, your advocacy efforts will assist us in ensuring that our voices are heard.

Listed below are the important topics we need you to tell our lawmakers about during our 5 weeks of advocacy:

Week 1: Housing Is Infrastructure [August 2, 2021 - August 6, 2021]
Week 2: Universal Housing Vouchers [August 9, 2021 - August 13, 2021]
Week 3: Voucher Services and Support [August 16, 2021 - August 20, 2021]
Week 4: Tax Credits and Community Development Resources [August 23, 2021 - August 27, 2021]
Week 5: FY 2022 Transportation-HUD Funding [August 30, 2021 - September 3, 2021]
